The Day of The Jackal by Frederick Forsyth

I love this book for many years now. This is a brilliant example of a political thriller, written with knowledge of the matter appearing in the details, good penmanship and sense of language.

But until recently, I have not read this book in the original. I fixed situation thanks to the gift of my friend Andrew (a.k.a. Englishman - now I appreciate the irony of your nickname!) and I must say I enjoyed every single page. Turning pages of actual book - it's an incomparable pleasure for me.

And, of course, I adore the original screen version of the book in 1973.

Everyone saw modern movie starring Bruce Willis - but I prefer classics.

The one reason why I would like a new screen adaptation - Daniel Craig as Jackal! I think he was created for this role!

The eyes of an Englishman were open and stared back with frank candor. Except for the irises which were of flecked gray so that they seemed smoky like the hoar mist on a winter's morning.
